Professional Experience:
Katherine Hekstra’s practice focuses in the areas of health care law and medical malpractice, specifically defending physicians and hospitals against medical malpractice lawsuits and in professional licensing proceedings.
Kate grew up in West Michigan and attended Grand Valley State University for her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Biomedical Science. She worked in a variety of healthcare spaces in Michigan before moving to Seattle in 2016 and working at a local biotechnology company.
Kate earned her law degree, Cum Laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She received concentrations in Health Law & Policy and Government Law. She spent her first summer in law school as a legal extern for a Seattle Judge as part of the American Bar Association’s Judicial Opportunity Internship Program and her second summer with a small Plaintiff’s litigation firm in San Francisco. Kate served as a Senior Production Editor for the Hastings Environmental Law Journal and competed on the Negotiation and Dispute resolution team.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her dog, cat, and loved ones.
