Helsell Fetterman Welcomes Debra Akhbari
Firm’s Litigation Practice Group Expanded with New Associate
Debra Akhbari has joined Helsell Fetterman as an associate attorney. Debbie is a past recipient of Helsell Fetterman’s Richard S. White Fellowship and was a Summer Associate at the firm during the summer of 2013. Debbie also completed an externship for Washington State Supreme Court Justice Steven González. She currently works with the firm’s litigation practice group.
Akhbari graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy. Prior to going to Seattle University School of Law, Debbie was the Program Manager for Washington State University Extension’s Community & Economic Development Unit. There, Debbie managed the CED unit’s daily operations, and assisted in the development, drafting, execution and management of grants and contracts. While working at WSU, Debbie attend Seattle University School of Law’s Evening Program and graduated in December 2013.
Her decision to join Helsell Fetterman was partly influenced by receiving the Richard S. White Fellowship, Akhbari said, but also by the firm’s unique focus and attention to developing their associates. “I really like that they hire one summer associate,” Akhbari says. “It is a great way to be introduced to the practice of law. I had the opportunity to work not only with new and senior associates, but also with the firm’s partners and of counsel. Being able to spend time with and learn from the firm’s partners was invaluable.”
