Helsell Fetterman Welcomes Liberty Upton


Firm’s Estate Planning and Taxation Practice Groups Expanded with New Associate

Liberty Upton has joined Helsell Fetterman as an associate attorney.  Liberty is the past recipient of a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her work in the Seattle University Trusts and Estates clinic. She also received a scholarship from the Washington State Bar Association Taxation Section for use in the pursuit of her LL.M. in Taxation.

Liberty graduated with a BA in Economics from Willamette University in 2007, earned her law degree from Seattle University in 2013, and received her Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2014. Prior to joining Helsell Fetterman, she worked at Columbia Bank as a financial analyst where she underwrote loans to high net worth individuals and edited bank policies and procedures. Subsequently, she worked for Judge Armstrong at the Washington Court of Appeals, Division II.

Liberty’s areas of practice are estate planning and taxation. She was brought on to become an integral part of the firm’s estate planning group, assisting clients in sophisticated estate, asset protection, and tax planning strategies including wills, trusts, healthcare & financial durable powers of attorney, and advanced directives. She also would like to engage clients and the Washington legal community in conversations about estate planning and tax law.
