March Highlights
Protecting your assets from lawsuits
To shelter assets from a creditor or a judgment holder, you must take certain actions prior to a claim arising against you. Too often we get calls from clients after the lawsuit has been filed, and at that point there is not much that can be done. Planning early can make the difference. Individuals who are in high-risk professions (such as physicians and paramedics, contractors and architects, and pilots and recreational flyers) in addition to business owners, individuals with high net worth, and those in the public eye (such as political figures, professional athletes, and entertainers) already have exposure and should start their planning sooner rather than later.
